Burst Direct aggregates and optimizes inventory from a broader field of web sites that meet the needs of large-scale direct marketers. Through its technology division, adConductor™, Burst markets its ad management solution to ad-supported businesses such as ad networks, technology providers, portals, and individual web sites.

History

Burst Media was founded in October 1995 by a group of experienced advertising and technology executives. Established in the early days of the eCommerce and Internet media phenomenon, the company began by representing a group of approximately 50 independent web sites.  Today Burst works with more than 5,700 web sites across two company-owned networks, and dozens more through our partner networks.

2010

  • Burst enhances its commitment to consumer privacy by implementing Ad Choice as part of the CLEAR Ad Notice across all of its ad networks

  • Burst acquires On The Phone Media (OTP) - a leading premium network in the UK

2009

  • adConductor expands client list with addition of Dwell Magazine as a client

  • adConductor Inventory Exchange launched, allowing media properties to build instant networks for their advertiser customers

  • Burst partners with Spongecell to offer client advanced creative opportunities

  • Burst Media acquires the assets of Giant Realm the leading ad network focused on the male 18-34 year segment

  • Burst Media celebrates its tenth consecutive year of BPA certification

  • adConductor achieves tenth consecutive BPA certification, recognized by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) as a Measurement Audited ad serving system

2008

  • Burst Network launches its vertical network offerings that include the Moms Network, Baby Boomers Network, and 10 other vertical offerings

  • Burst Network introduces five publisher sponsored ad networks with partners CDKitchen, RealGM, Daily Jolt, Kiwibox and redOrbit

  • adConductor 3.0 released; MTV Networks Tribes and BET Networks sign up as adConductor customers

  • Burst Direct reaches 100 million daily impressions

  • Burst Direct launches cost-per-action (CPA) offering

2007

2006

  • BURST! Media LLC becomes Burst Media Corporation and offers shares to the public on the London Stock Exchange's AIM Market

  • Burst Media introduces in-page streaming video ads

  • Burst Direct, Burst Media's performance-driven ad network, is launched

  • Burst's core business - distribution of brand advertising across the Internet -- is renamed Burst Network

  • adConductor serves 6 billion ads monthly

2005

  • BURST! Media is named the 11th-fastest growing private company in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal

  • Launches Burst adConductor Enterprise, a complete ad management system

  • Opens a London office to represent UK web sites and sell directly to UK advertisers and advertising agencies

  • Introduces a series of behavioral targeting solutions

2004

  • BURST! Media celebrates its fifth consecutive year of BPA certification

2003

  • BURST! Media serves 3 billion impressions per month

2002

  • BURST! Media launches Online Insights, a monthly newsletter featuring original research

  • Launches its proprietary ad management product, AdDesktop, to allow publishers to create and run their own campaigns

2001

  • BURST! Media is ranked in the top 25 of the Inc. 500

2000

  • BURST! Media serves more than 1 billion impressions per month

  • Becomes the first online advertising network to be system certified by BPA Worldwide

1999

  • BURST! Media offers its first demographic survey to publisher sites

1998

  • BURST! Media announces the addition of its 1,500th publisher

1996

  • Forrester Research publishes its inaugural report on Internet advertising, and concludes that advertising networks will "dominate" ad sales; BURST! Media is identified as an early contender in the field

1995

  • BURST! Media LLC is founded by advertising agency and technology professionals as one of the first ad networks
